Protocol Failure topic

I've rooted my AFTV and blocked automatic updates, now I'm trying to downgrade so I can put on CWM using the guide on AFTVnews.com but during the command "adb push update.zip /cache" it comes back as protocol failure after about 20mins

Can anyone tell me what's happening?
