When I try unlocking sprint M8 following the thread

I find a problem. Changing NV 1877 to any value will cause the phones can't connect to any network, either GSM or CDMA.
I have another Verizon's M8. Same operation takes different result. Changing to a correct value won't cause error. The phone will connect to the right bands assigned by the value.
Is there any one can help me to resolve this question?
