Samsung Gear and Samsung s3 mini topic

Hi guys! I have Samsung galaxy s3 mini and i want to buy samsung gear. Can i pair this with my s3 mini? On s3 mini i have android 4.1.2 (i can flash/root it) and i haven't got nfc. On this phone i have Gear Manager. Can i pair this devices or i must buy smarwatch 2?
