Smart unlock topic

I was wondering if there was another way to use the smart unlock feature used in lollipop on kit kat... I tried the app smart unlock and for whatever reason it does not seem to work on my G3 and it also does not work with low level Bluetooth... I want to use my moto 360 as a trusted device...
