[Q] Post-Lollipop flash, all backups on SD erased? topic

Hello,
I'm a Nexus 4 user and recently flashed Lollipop on my phone.
I had rooted my device and was running a SlimKat ROM previously. So before I flashed to 5.0, i made an online nandroid backup of my phone. I then proceeded to download the 5.0 files and flash them to my device. I was not able to just upgrade like some users, so I knew that the flash would erase all of my files. But thats why I made the backup.

In short, I want to know if the Flash erased even my root location (/0) zip backup files. I can be a total idiot and not have realized that after you back up your device, you need to copy the .zip into a different location. Is this the case?

Is there anyway to get my ZIP backups from previous ROM's back?
