[Q] new fire tv stick - make it better? topic

I got a fire tv stick . I am not happy with the user interface, I was lead to believe it would be different after a conversation with Amazon Customer Service.
I want to stick to open with a selection of user profiles. I want one that is for my kids and one for adults. I want the kids one to have restrictions on what they can access., i.e. parental controls. I would like these to extend into the apps like netflix.

Can I do this?

that allows me to sideload apps to my fire tv stick. apps like XBMC.
But can I set the stick up to 1) boot to xbmc, 2) require a password on one account 3) establish parental controls on that account that extend to the various apps?

finally, do I need to root the stick to get it to boot to XBMC?

Screen mirroring fire stick topic

I'm trying to mirror my image to the fire stick. I get all the way to connect to and the fire stick screen turns black but then the gs5 says failed to start streaming. I know some of the apps stop working when rooted but before I removed root from the device I was going to see if anyone had any luck getting it to work on a rooted or un-rooted device. Thanks

HBO GO Works on FireTV Stick! topic

I side loaded the amazon HBO GO Fire TV apk and it works fine on the stick. It eve showed up in recent apps after a few mintues. It run s little slow but I read it also does on the FireTV.

Trouble sideloading XBMC to Fire Stick topic

Hello all. I'm trying to install xbmc to a fire tv stick. I have successfully done this with a fire tv. I don't know what's going on with the stick.

I can connect to the stick in the adbfire app and I can ping the stick via the command prompt.

I keep getting this error in the command prompt :

*daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
*daemon started successfully *
error : device not found
- waiting for device -

Any ideas?
Please help!

Easiest method for copying XBMC setup on fire tv to fire tv stick? topic

Hello all,

I have been working on my setup on the fire tv device for some time. I have XBMC customized and configured for my sources/shares and chosen add-ons. I just received my fire tv stick and would like to basically copy the setup to the stick.

For some reason I was never able to get the apps like adbFire to work when I tried Backup XBMC / Restore XBMC (now Kodi) so I was wondering what the easiest way to mirror the setup would be? Is there a config file that i could copy from an install on one device to an install on the other that would setup everything? I am thinking that would probably be "too easy" but it might work for the shares/sources.

Roam does not stick with custom rom topic

I have had a problem recently with roam not sticking on custom roms (LS, Omni, Nameless and the new CM12 roms) and cannot figure what is causing it. I turn on digital roaming and check national roaming or whatever the second setting is. I back out of the of settings and a few minutes later I come back and the setting has changed back to Home Only. I tried Roam Control but I am in Texas so it does not work. I went back to stock thinking maybe I had corrupted something, rerooted and flashed a custom rom again. I still have the same problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
