Does the s5 always come with the original software it had on launch day with the kernel that came out before November 14th? Is it possible to use xposed or some other app to prevent OTA updates?

[Q] HTC One X Software faullt after uninstalling cyanogen topic
Hello there, I am asking here because I was unable to find a helpful set of resources to fix my problem.
How the problem(s) started:
It all began when I thought it was a good idea to unlock and install a cyanogen-mod stable release for endeavoru. After finishing the side-load for installing it, I rebooted the phone and it was stuck on the cyanogen-mod loading screen.
I flashed it with the stock androidrevolution rom, and thus ran into some errors.
My sort of recovery:
After initializing the side-load of the HTC stock rom, it got to about 67% done, gave an error and rebooted the phone. After the phone booted up, it seemed fine until I slid to unlock the screen, and it showed the green HTC text and wouldn't go to the android home screen.
After searching here, I found that
seemed to fix it, so my "story" continues from there.
The actual problem/errors themselves:
When going into the wifi/bluetooth/mobile-data or even trying to make a phone call, it gives a continues error. the bluetooth instantly switches off, after 20 seconds of turning wifi on it turns of again and when trying to make a phone call or send a text message it simply says "please make sure aeroplane mode is off" when it clearly is off.
Unfortunately i made a backup of the phone before installing cyanogen, but i think it may be deleted as i can not seem to open, let alone find, it on clockwork recovery.
Would anyone be able to help me with my predicament?
My phone specs are as follows:
some things to note in my case if you are able to help:
I'm a near complete noob when it comes to HTC Android.
My HTC Sync is not picking up my phone.
I would prefer if you could use layman's terms if you have a fix to my problem :D
Thank you in advance.
Jedd Wiltshire.

unique software issue - please help and instruct or suggest topic
Hey guys... Love you guys! I have a somewhat unique issue going on and am wondering whawt you all think is the best way to proceed. I have a D415 LG-Optimus L90 for T-Mobile. It was rooted with Towelroot (v3 I believe) and I flashed CM onto it (CM11, i believe). I had the back cover removed with battery in it BUT it was powered off and it was laying on the ground and a very shallow, light puddle of liquid seeped down the walls and eventually it puddled up and seeped under my phone so a VERY small amount, a very light layer, of liquid got onto the bottom/outside parts of my battery and the back-inside area surrounding battery. Upon reinserting the battery, it wouldn't turn on. When connected to charger, it gives me the empty battery icon with the yellow triangle (warning? sign). If i leave the phone powered off for a day or more and connect to charger/power bank (it fluctuates), it charges from 0% BUT it stays at 0%.... after about a minute of this, I can boot the phone up and it boots up to my CM initial setup/welcome screen. At this point, I can go through the setup process however no wi-fi networks show up (and i'm in a wi-fi networks zone) and after going through "Setup" steps and click "Finish" or "Go to Home Screen", it powers down and reboots and stays stuck in this bootloop. Sometimes, if i restart or power cycle my device from initial setup/welcome screen while STILL connected, it'll go back to the empty battery icon with the yellow triangle warning icon.. So i'm getting a new battery today and am wondering what I should do once I charge my new battery and am ready to fix my phone; flash stock OS onto it? Re-flash CM and Gapps? Any and all help is appreciated ; i do have internet access with sync cables, SD cards, etc so I should have all tools neessary to fix this. I've been a month without a phone and needless to say, i've suffered for it so any and all help is appreciated; any links, referalls, suggestions.... Thanks in advance!

[Q] SDS? Hardware or Software Issue? topic
I am in need of help! My phone is dead. Here's the rundown
AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II (i317)
Used on the Straight Talk Network
Running the latest Unofficial CM12, Lollipop 5.0 for the last two weeks and loved every bit of it. No problems.
I cracked my screen in July and never got it fixed. The cracks spread and I was planning on getting it fixed, but haven't yet. I dropped it two days ago and then the screen wouldn't come back on. The buttons lit up and it would even ring when called. So I thought my screen was finally gone and started looking for a replacement. I took the battery out because I didn't want it ringing without the ability to answer it. Yesterday I put the fully charged battery in and attempted to turn the phone back on. It will not come back on and I think it's more than just the screen now.
Red LED blinks. Half of the screen seems like it is turning on, but then it all goes dark again. Will not enter Download or Recovery. I've been reading and thinking this is more of a hardware issue than software. I've flashed dozens of Roms with only minor issues here and there. I haven't had any issue with Lollipop and can't see it being related, although I could really be wrong.
My question is, is my phone dead? Do I need a new motherboard, along with the screen I was already gonna replace? If that's the case, I will just replace the phone and start over, unless anyone has free parts they want to donate, LOL! Seriously, just looking for input and suggestions.
Thanks

[Q] Any way of checking if refurbished on software? topic
Hi.
I got this phone for 250 bucks for my mom. The box came without plastics or seals, readily openable. Phone came with both rear and front plastics, but that box with no seals makes me fishy.
Is there any way of checking the number on power ons or headshet connections like you can check on Galaxy phones?
Thank you.

[Q] How To Install Custom Software On VZW GS4 topic
I've had my brand new SCH-I545 since thanks giving now. I've been trying to root and get a custom ROM on the phone ever since then and have gotten closer and closer but haven't been able to quite get everything to co-operate.
I may catch scorn for posting such a generic question on a flagship phone but I've been up all night for 2 weeks now trying to get this to work following numerous tutorials but with android everything seems to get outdated when there are so many software variables at hand that are constantly changing like firmwares and build numbers. I've included all the info since it all seems to be vital and have tried to seperate tasks by paragraph so you can skip over what you feel may be arbritrary. So if I could get an up to date breakdown on how I could succeed in my endevour I'd appreciate it greatly.
Out the box I have a 4.4.2 and NK1 build number. I was finally able to get root access through towel root after flashing back to NC5. However even after flashing NC5 through odin, about phone still says my baseband and build number end I545VRUFNK1 but towelroot no longer gives me the "phone not supported" message and I'm able to succesfully atain root access, confirmed by root checker. Is that normal?
So I have root now but want a custom ROM. VZW locks the bootloaders on new phones so I believe that means I can't use a custom recovery like CWM. I've tried and tried but it doesn't work, neither does the CWM Rom manager app. I've managed to get a custom recovery through installing BusyBox and Safestrap. (I had to go through several apk's to get Safestrap to work. Usually I would be able to enter TWRP recovery through it but the recovery won't respond to any of my touches. The power button still works to turn the screen on and off so it is not frozen but it won't respond when I swipe to unlock it. Even now that I have it working, if the screen locks I'm unable to unlock it even if TWRP is performing a task in the backround and clearly not frozen.
One time I was able to more or less successfully flash LiquidSmooth (LS-KK-v3.2-2014-10-04-jflte.zip). This was the closest I ever got to my goal as the ROM succesfully booted up and I was able to browse the home screen and change all the settings and it was a moment of joy until I went to settings and switched wifi on it just wouldn't. It either just wouldn't switch or would switch right back and grey itself out I don't remember exactly. My phone had no service either for calls, text or 4G. So everything worked internally it just couldnt comunicate with any signals coming from outside the phone. Why would this be? If I manage to boot LiquidSmooth again is there something I could download to make the wifi/service work? (I could download through USB or Odin.)
After this I tried to flash CM but the phone wouldnt even start after installation and would just bootloop so I had to flash back to stock to make it work again. Then I tried LiquidSmooth several more times but now I get stuck at the bootscreen for LiquidSmooth where it has the logo and the backround flashing. I've let the animation loop for several minutes multiple times before doing a battery pull.
Basically for 2 weeks I've been flashing NC5->rooting->flashing NK1 back->installing safestrap->installing a rom->soft bricking->flashing back to stock ROM and starting again
Is it possible if I keep doing this proccess that it will just work one time? It may sound silly but I kind of believe just because I've had varrying degrees of success following the exact same procedure.
And when I install a ROM in TWRP I go Wipe->(swipe factory reset)->Install->(select LS.zip and wait for it to say its succesfully installed)->Swipe one more time to wipe cache->Reboot after this the phone either fails to start up or loops the LiquidSmooth animation. As I said, one time it started succesfully.
Let me know what any of this information leads you to believe and if you may have a sollution in mind. Huge thanks to anyone that read this and will try to help me. I've had this phone 2 weeks now and would like to start actually using it.

[Q] "System Software Not Authorized By Verizon Wireless" topic
Hello, from some what site, I heard that Safestrap 3.75 allowed to install Cyanogen Mod. I installed Safestrap 3.75, made a back up, and installed a nightly version from Cyanogen Mod
After installing CM from safestrap and rebooting, I got the yellow sign with "System Software Not Authorized By Verizon Wireless". I couldn't even go back to Safestrap to restore back. I used the NC5 build rooted with Towelroot.
From some websites, I found that I could just flash the stock firmware using Odin but even installing the correct "I545VZWFNC5" md5 file, I get an error saying
"Can't open the specified file. (line 1949)"
Is there a way I could apply my back up made using safestrap or just clean wipe my phone so that I can make my phone functioning? Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a great data base software, please? I want to catalog our hundreds of DVDs, and be able to search by title, actors, directors, genre,..., and if they're on a set.

[Q] Software upgrade??? topic
I was in the car and I needed to hurry up, and when I unlocked my screen a window popped up, having the title "Software Upgrade" and when I read it, it said "Your software needs to be upgraded in 30 days. Upgrade it now or after 30 days has passed" and I had the choice of picking Cancel or Upgrade, but as I was hurrying up, I chose "Cancel" and now I don't know if it was an application that had to be upgraded or my phone's system??? The apps I am using are WhatsApp and Viber, did the message come from one of them? I can't believe now that I canceled it..

Camera 2 "Software Update" Received 12/20/2014 topic
Woke up this morning to my Galaxy Camera 2 claiming it was downloading a new software update (~130mb). Of course, there's no mention anywhere in the update process for what is included in this update, but I can definitely tell you that it's not Kitkat (sadly). Unfortunately, I didn't check version numbers prior to accepting the update (sorry), but here's the version numbers after the update:
Build Number:
JSS15J.GC200XXUCNK4
Kernel version:
3.0.31-2807772
se.infra@SWDA2606 #1
Sat Nov 29 15:55:43 KST 2014
That's the same Build Number we've had since like April 2014, but the kernel definitely seems to have been updated. Maybe they finally fixed the loss of Google account settings issue??? I appreciate updates, but I really wish they would inform the customer better on what these updates fixed.
Ironically, for the first time in a long time, my Camera 2 had lost its Google Account settings when I turned it on this morning....haha.
Oh, I reside in Florida, USA. Not sure who else in the world is receiving the update, but according to SamMobile.com the Camera 2 update was hitting other locations around the globe starting 12/18/2014, but there's no mention of it hitting the USA at all.

Had Sprint pulled software version 3.30.651.2? topic
I recently had problems sending texts and making calls on my HTC One M8 running stock, so Sprint decided to send me a replacement (refurbished). I've gotten this replacement restored, but I haven't been able to get the latest update (software version 3.30.651.2). I'm still running OS 4.4.3, and my previous phone was showing 4.4.4. I tried and tried to get it to update, to no avail. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the update was what was causing my problems with texts and calls?
Tuesday night I spent over four hours with HTC Support, trying to get the update manually loaded. Still unable to do this, so I took into a local Sprint repair center. After talking to the technicial, he recommended I not install this update, due to numerous problems they were seeing with it. In fact, he said that it may be that Sprint actually pulled the update due to this. Has anyone heard that? That would certainly save a lot of people from going through all the hassles I had to endure. I'm thinking they may not want to admit they had to pull it, because it would be an admission that they released an updated that caused harm to customers' phones.

Does AOKP include proprietary software? topic
From thread 2550769
So what proprietary software is included in AOKP?
Quote:
freecyngn is a tool you can run from recovery, that removes some known proprietary things (or apps relying on proprietary extensions) from CyanogenMod. At the moment this is Google Analytics (from CMStats), CMAccount, Voice+ and VoiceDialer. |

[P907A] New Software Update P907AUCU1ANK2 topic
It looks like Samsung and AT&T have released the SM-P907A's first software update. It's still Android 4.4.2 but fixes a really major bug that caused the System UI process to go into an infinite crash loop when you would adjust the volume while connected to a Chromecast.
As far as the BSOD goes, so far, I have not experienced it with this new firmware. That said, I want to use it for at least a week before I say for sure that it's fixed.
One bug that doesn't seem to be fixed, though, is with VPN. Using the standard Android VPN functionality, I can connect to my work's Cisco VPN via IPSec Xauth PSK on any Android device except on the P907A. If I set it up, it connects, then immediately disconnects. Annoying.
AT&T also added a bigger, more gaudy 4G LTE icon.

What video formats work on the Gear VR software? topic
I just ordered one without appreciating this (duh). Most of my movies are in MKV and some are MP4. I have no 3D movies, but reports so far are very positive with 2D. Just ASSumed more than MP4 would work. MKV in particular.
Update: The card copy was already answered- Yes. Also, do we have to use the included 16GB card, or can we drag the card folders to our own card? I have a 128gb card.

[Q] Need P600 Software to Restore to Stock topic
Not sure what happened to my SM-P600, but after using TWR 2.7 to do a factory reset, prior to installing a new ROM, some of my partitions failed. I am able to use ODIN to flash a recovery and have used both CWM and TWR to try and get my partitions back, which I believe I have done, and am now looking for an image I can flash using ODIN. Scot had a thread on returning the P600 back to stock, but that image wouldn't write. Perhaps because it was an older image?
I am unable to mount USB to transfer files or I would use one of the custom ROM's.
A link to the latest firmware in an odin flashable format would be super. Or, if you know how I can get something copied over to this brick, I would appreciate that too.
