Does the s5 always come with the original software it had on launch day with the kernel that came out before November 14th? Is it possible to use xposed or some other app to prevent OTA updates?

[Q] Mobile data while talking on the phone still not working?? topic

Good afternoon,
I have had my motorola droid turbo for approximately two weeks now and noticed for the first time today that while trying to make a phone call I'm unable to use mobile data even over my wifi. Is this something that is still coming down the pipe for droid users? I seem to have run all of the updates possible that are available from Motorola as well as Android. I am Not Yet on lollipop so unable to test that.

Thank you for your assistance.

[Q] Lg G3 Turning Off Still Speaker Phone and Camera ... topic

hey guys, im new here but thought this would be the best place to ask.

i am having a problem with my lg g3 since i bought it, at first the phone would randomly turn off when using the camera and i would have remove the back cover and remove the battery for a few seconds just for it to be able to turn back on again, which as you can imagine with a brand new high end phone incredibly frustrating!!

a few months down the line i am having a different problem this time, whenever i have the phone on speaker phone in a call it does it again and instantly turns off. even if i take the battery out it doesn't come back on i have to leave the battery out for about a minute or 2 before it will switch back on. i have returned the phone on the first instance a week after i bought it but now i dont know what to do.. it seems it must be a widespread issue with the phone as i have gone through 3 of the same devices from the store and they all do it.

has anyone else had the same problem on here, and does anyone know the solution to it?

thanks so much for reading hope you have time to help me out as im not very experienced in phone issues.

ps these recaptcha are umm different shall i say.. ive been here for 5mins trying to get one correct am i being stupid?

This simple tether hack still works! Neet root. topic

My original post on this hack is here for Samsung Galaxy S3:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...3#post51105163

I do not remember the details anymore, but I did managed to find a file somewhere in XDA forums to work with Android 4.4.2 (at least that's what I wrote down). I just tried with an AT&T S5 (rooted) and tether works fine. Tried Speedtest.net and it gave me 3-4Mbps download speed.

Here are the instructions I saved. I did not write it. These instructions are correct as it works for my phone:

I got it to work after some tinkering. Instructions:

1) Mount /system RW (I use ES File explorer)

2) Navigate to /system/app

3) Rename a total of 4 files by adding ".bak" to the end of the filename-
a- TetheringProvision.apk.bak
b- TetheringProvision.odex.bak
c- TetheringAutomation.apk.bak
d- TetheringAutomation.odex.bak

4) Paste new TetheringProvision.apk into the /system/app directory (I cant remember
whether I used the one from this thread or another, so I attached the one I used below)

5) Reboot phone. During the reboot I got the "Android is upgrading" popup with a little
loading bar.

6) The first time you turn tethering on, you need to do it by going through Settings
--> More Networks --> Tethering and Protable Hotspot --> Turn on Mobile Hotspot.
It will give you the "Please wait while verifying" and then tell you to call AT&T
to get tethering added to your plan, but just hit the OK button, and a few seconds
later tethering should start. After this, turn it back off and now use the "mobile
hotspot" app and you can configure network settings like wifi network name and password.

I was able to resolve the "unfortunately settings stopped" error by correcting the
permissions on the new TetheringProvision.apk to match the old one, rw-r-r, then I rebooted and was good to go.

Still have kitkat sounds on Lollipop? Heres a fix topic

So today I went to a phone store to try out the Nexus 6 that was just released in my country. I noticed that the system sounds were different from my Htc One M8 running a Lollipop rom (BlissPop). By system sounds I mean the lock/unlock sound, camera sounds etc.

I started googling about this, and it seems like the Nexus 5 and the NVIDIA shield have received these sounds in Lollipop and some devices have not. Finally I found a simple fix from this website: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-cha...droid-devices/ The guide doesnt mention the few last steps though. After you have placed the sounds in the system, you have to set the files permission to rw -r-r, and then reboot.

I'm not sure if this helped anyone, I just wanted to share as I havent seen this discussed anywhere else.

[Q] Still memory management problems? topic

I would like to buy this phone for my dad. My dad has 2 SIM cards (private and work) so this dual sim phone could be useful to him, but I am a bit worried after reading about the Memory management problem when the phone shuts down apps by itself.

Should I avoid this phone?

i317 Bricked Odin Pass but Still Brick topic

Like my title says I have a i317 Note II on AT&T. It was bricked a while back I tried factory reset which sent it into a boot loop until the battery drained now it is just a brick and wont start but past the Samsung logo.

I ran Odin v3.09 with a Pass but the phone is still doing the same thing. Not sure where to go after this. Do I need to run a new bootloader file? Any help would be great. :cowboy:

These are the files I ran with it:
i317.pit
I317-UCUBMK6.tar.md5

Still No 5.0.1 Update? topic

Hello, all!

I was just wondering if anyone else is still waiting on the 5.0.1 update for their Moto 360? I have been anxiously awaiting the update on mine and have yet to receive it. I have been checking like mad manually via the phone, but it just keeps telling me that it is up to date :(. There are some items in the new update that I am really wanting to take advantage of. I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Can my N7(2013) still be saved? topic

Hi, my N7 is bricked and I wanted to fix it.

I tried to flash ROM but couldn't do it since my computer wont recognize my N7 (except in Recovery Mode-> Sideload).

I think it has something to do with the "developer options -> need to check USB Debugging", however, I can't do that since my phone when turned on, Google Logo appears, then afterwards, BLACK SCREEN (and now in a loop, but there is no X logo just plain black).

My phone is rooted & unlocked. Out of curiousity (My fault), I bricked my N7.

I've read a lot of article on how to unbrick my N7 and I think I now know how to do it- through Android SDK/ADB Tool. I've also read the a guide on how to change drivers (and tried it in all possible ways I can think of), and it did install the driver. However searching my N7 through ADB Tool doesn't go through.

adb devices
List of devices attached
(**nothing follows**)

But if I turn my N7 to Recovery Mode->apply update from adb:

will show the result:

adb devices
List of devices attached
**serial number** sideload

I don't know what other ways in order to unbrick my N7.

I hope you can help me with it.

Lost CWM Recovery after update Android but still have root topic

Hi there,
I have a Samsung Note 3 "SM-N9005" with the original stock firmware and I recently updated some of my Android firmware files to 4.4.2 using the official software updater, when I rebooted after the update I have lost my ability to access the Clockworkmod Recovery and I can only access the original phone recovery mode, even-though I still have SuperSU installed and my phone is still rooted.
I have tried re-installing CMW Recovery using both the RomManager and flashing it using Odin, I also tried flashing the "CF auto root" , but all my efforts was of no use.

Please help
Thanks

[Q] Why does my One+ still say "1 minute until charged" at 100%? topic

So, this may be nothing and I'm sure it's maybe not, but has anyone else noticed that even though the device is 100% charged, it still reads, "1 minute until charged" in the drop-down? Is this because I'm using BatteryBot Pro?

Thanks in advance.

[Q] Read the Sticky, still can't flash stock or lollipop kernels topic

I wonder whether there is help for someone who thought he knew how to flash a kernel but apparently is deluded. I have the original nexus seven Wi-Fi tablet android version 4.3 build number JWR66V. The system still wants to update me to 4.3 because I ripped some files out of the cache directory to prevent OTA updates. I have both fastboot and adb. I have read the stickies about flashing.

The phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked. I use TWRP custom recovery, and it's a good thing, because I solidly bricked myself up just trying to get my lollipop. I know there are tools to root a nexus seven even with stock lollipop, so I thought I'd upgrade my phone to stock lollipop and then use one of those methods. I tried both the stock lollipop kernel and the one provided by chain fire, which I understand is rooted already. (I'm assuming upgrading to lollipop will lose me my root, unless I want to recover back to 4.3.)

I tried to do these things a couple of different ways. When I tried fast boot, I got the message "error: neither -p product specified nor ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT set". There was a YouTube video suggesting how to deal with this error message. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions but no go. (I was using the "flash all" command.) This was after I had put the file containing lollipop in the directory, both zipped and unzipped (so that I had an .img file instead of a zip file). I tried using both the zip file with all of the lollipop partitions and the system image file individually. No go. I also had a message that android-info.txt could not be found, even though it was in the same, working directory.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can install a complete updated kernel from a file on the device. I think that works only with update.zip.

I'm still thinking fastboot is my best bet, but there are dependencies apparently and I don't know what files to include in its directory. Then, am I wise to go to stock and then root, or should I simply flash the stock kernel already rooted? I assume that's what chainfire is providing, correct?

I notice the lollipop official ROM nor Chainfire’s supposedly-rooted image have any file named nakasi. I have only .img files, no .zip files.

I found a dozen sets of instructions on how to flash a kernel but something I need is missing from all of them. Does anyone know what it is or can anyone offer some helpful advice?

Thank you,

Leon M.
