[Q] Kindle HDX 8.9 4th Gen topic

One question, I spoke to customer service on Amazon, They stated the 4th Gen kindles HDX 8.9(2.5 snap dragon) and new HD6 and HD7 models have OTG support enabled....

Is this true? And 3rd Gen (2.2 snapdragon) which I have, it is disabled.

All over the net im seeing disabled all the time.
And I haven't seen anyone here speaking about OTG support at all.

Kindle Fire HD topic

Hi,

i have a kindle fire HD and yesterday i dropped it off the couch onto the floor. Since then the kindle wont load or respond to anything, charging, booting, hard reset (holding power for 60 seconds), plugging it into PC anything.

the only response i can get is when the usb is plugged in, either to the pc or charger, it pops up saying kindle fire for a couple of seconds then completely shuts its self off.

has anyone got any tips or ideas that can help me fix this?

i have tried a few little batch and jar files i have found on this forum and i am about to try one found in a similar forum as suggested when typing this request.

if anyone can help this would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks
Kris

Kindle root topic

I didn't find a specific forum on the kindle fire hd 6" (mine is 4th gen), I apologize..so a move would be appreciated.
Mines the Amazon kindle fire hd 6" 4th gen . I installed Google play services and the others like sis say to, though I still get GPServices not installed errors and it don't work. I 've looked into rooting but I'm unsure a good safe way. Many tutorials from years ago..rather have a current one or someone who knows what they talking about maybe direct me to a good root tut.I'm guessing the 6 and 7 done the same way since most are about rooting 7 etc? Thanks for any and all help.

[Q] Cannot install Safestrap on Kindle Fire HDX 2013 (Thor), parse error topic

I have a Fire HDX Thor 7" tablet from 2013, which has just updated to FireOS 4.5.2. However, I still had the same error on the original version of the OS.
When I try to install Safestrap, downloaded from the links provided in this thread from ES file explorer, I get a "Parse error". I have tried all 5 apks.
This is the error I get when tapping install: "There was a problem parsing the package.", preventing me from installing the app.
I have all the requirements, root access and SuperSU successfully installed. All other apks install fine.
Any ideas/alternate apps that will allow me to boot into a custom ROM? I would like to install CM or stock KitKat if possible.

[Q] Hard-bricked Kindle Fire (power controller is dead)? topic

I've got a problem with KF. It was unused for 2 or 3 months and looked like fully discharged. I tried to charge it with low-amper charger (5V, 0.55 mA), got it stuck for 5-sec bootloop.
.
Leaved it for 2-3 minutes and KF totally turned off, without any reaction on power button (no powering on, no charge indicator). Got original 1.8A charger - no luck. Tried hard reset (from 30 sec to 5 mins) - no luck. Tried different chargers from 0.55 to 2.1A - no luck.
Tried usbboot trick - no luck (firekit stuck on waiting for device, lsusb shows nothing).

Disassembled and reinstall battery connecter shows the same result. Leaved it on charger through usb-ampermeter, it showed power consumption 0.6A with battery attached and 0.2A without battery. After battery being charged for 8 hours ampermeter shows power consumtion in 0.2A (so battery looks like fully charged). Disassembled battery connection and measured voltage between first black battery (from black cords to red cords) and 3rd red battery cord (from red cords to black cords) - it shows 4.2V, so battery looks like fully charged.

Now i have such symptoms:
- No reaction with usb cable attached (both wallet and computer 0.5A usb)
- Powers on by single press (power button light for 2 seconds, display with "press power button for recovery" - for 1 second) and powers off without usb cable attached. No reaction on usb cable attaching in this 2 seconds (and no response for power button being pushed while usb cable is connected).
- No reaction on usbboot at all (both battery connected or disconnected)

Any ideas?

(STUCK) Kindle goes into "fastboot mode" screen even when entering recovery topic

Yesterday was my first time rooting a Kindle Fire, and the root process went very smoothly when I followed this guide which uses saferoot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/kind...6-3-3-t2814955

While I made use of this guide for flashing FFF and TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...13&postcount=3

After successfully rooting it, I wanted to try the OtterX ROM/TWRP/Bootloader, since I read the comments and saw it would be good to try it out. After flashing the bootloader (otterx-u-boot_v2.05), the kindle kept rebooting showing the logo and the option to 'press power to enter boot menu'. I thought this was normal so I didn't mind it. (During this time, I could still enter recovery.) I proceeded to Step 2 which was flashing TWRP for OtterX (I downloaded zip-otterx-twrp-2.8.2.0-recovery.zip and installed it using the previous TWRP I flashed: openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.1-blaze.img).

I wasn't able to remember what I did next, but I know I was already having issues. I was getting anxious and sleepy at the same time, I remember exploring the boot menu and foolishly/stupidly tried the EMMC Corruption Fix, without even trying to research about it beforehand, so now I'm stuck at the "fastboot mode" screen (I've attached a photo of the screen). Whenever I turn on the device, it shows the kindle fire logo and the option to enter boot menu. If I let it be for a while, it goes into the "fastboot mode" screen, the same thing happens when I try to choose "continue boot" or "recovery boot". Windows doesn't recognize it anymore whenever I try to connect it too (I'm using Windows 8.1 by the way.)

Please help, I've tried reading about how I could restore the kindle to the state it used to be after I rooted it, but no luck, I couldn't find anyone encountering the same problem as me since I think I'm the only one stupid enough to apply that EMMC corruption fix without knowing or reading what it actually does. Thanks in advance to anyone who could help.

[Q] Retrieving E-mail From Kindle... topic

Long story short... my kid broke his Kindle a ways back. He just got another new one for Christmas. We tried to register the new one, but he's forgotten his e-mail address. :\

I plugged the old Kindle into my PC and it can turn on, but the screen does not work (can't get past the initial swipe screen). Is there a way to recover the e-mail address at least, by accessing the Kindle via USB?
