[Q] Tech support community??? topic

Hey guys.

I just started a tech support job at a major domain hosting company. I was wondering if anyone knew of an online community/forum for the tech support industry. I can't seem to come across one . This is my first job in this industry and want/need all of the resources I can get to be a well knowledgeable professional who can do nothing but grow. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Thanks ! :)

Nexus 9 USB OTG Support problems topic

Hello everyone,
So I have been experiencing and interesting issue(or maybe simple lack of support) with USB OTG on the Nexus 9 that I own. First off, I have been using keyboard, mouse, and xbox 360 controllers with the same cable on my Samsung Galaxy S4 running a AOSP(4.4.4), and Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 variant of Gummy ROM without any issues. Lone behold, on my Nexus(running stock 5.0.1 OTA), the only devices it's seems to support as of present are removable media(i.e. USB flash memory/hard disk drives). I am wondering if this a bug, or misconfiguration on my part(maybe I am overlooking a setting), and since I intended on using the controller support for emulation purposes this would be a deal breaker and I would have no other choice but to return the device. Keep in mind I have tested the cable/controllers/mice/keyboard on my S4, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and my roommates HTC One without any issues, leading me to believe this is either a hardware, or software limitation. Thanks again, for any advice or help you guys/girls maybe able to offer me :)!

[Q] ARM support in stock ROM topic

I know that the device is based on x86, but I've read a few sources say that it can handle ARM just fine. I'm trying to run GTA: Chinatown Wars, but it crashes every time I try to launch it. When I read the logcat, it says that it crashes with this error:

Code:

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: dlopen failed: "/data/app/com.rockstargames.gtactw-1/lib/arm/libCTW.so" has unexpected e_machine: 40

From what I gather, it seems like there's something wrong with the ARM translator. What baffles me even more is that the game is in the Play Store on the Nexus Player, so, in theory it should work.

Has anyone encountered any similar errors with other ARM-specific apps on the stock ROM?

OpenGL 4.5 support is missing, let's change that together!!! topic

Many already knows that the Nexus 9 has physical support for OpenGL 4.5, exactly as the Shield tablet. I dont know why, but for some reason it seems like Google hasn't added any support fort this.

The great developer Sonicadvance1(dolphin emulator developer) has opened an issue on this November 22. Please, just give 2 minutes of your time and show your support. Star the issue and add a comment in the issue.

Together i really think we can make a difference, let's show our support!

Why dont Xiaomi phones support encryption? topic

Hi,

First time poster, long time forum stalker, I just bought a mi3 and I think I regret it. The reason is that it doesn't seem to support phone encryption. I headed over to the en.Maui forums but they seem to ignore people that ask difficult questions.

Anyway do I need to wait until the kernel sources are released or is there anything else I can do

Cheers

Modified drivers with full OpenGL support? topic

I am vaguely interested in a nexus 9, but the driver gimping is a non starter. I do play some Tegra optimized games, and frankly I refuse to give them up because of Google handiwork. I was considering this device as an alternative to the shield tablet, but if this issue can't be fixed I'm going to stick with nvidia's offering. FYI I do already own the shield tablet, I was just considering a switch due to issues I've been having.

What support is there for the 805? topic

Picked up the 805 and it feels strange not having many options.

I have a One M7 which has a ton.

What kernels and Roms are designed for this?

[Q] Why is there limited support for the p601 topic

Hello xda
I have a P601 and I want to know why there isn't even a single instance of Lollipop for the P601, is it more difficult as compared to the LTE versions due to the different SoCs? Many of us have P601s but from all the Note's I believe it's the most badly managed when it comes to support :crying: , if someone can link me to how to build a fairly working Lollipop Rom than I'd really appreciate it or if one of the LTE developers could spend some time porting it to us poor P601 owners I'd be even happier

I'm hoping some of the developers would read this and consider supporting the P601 :fingers-crossed:

How can I get native SD card mount support on any rom like SlimKat has? topic

I own this thing pictured below this message..

It, and other adapters like it work with a cheezy, sketchy, chinese app that allow you to browse files on the sd card. The OS will not read the card natively. I refuse to use the app. Bleh.

When I was on Stock, rooted, it wouldn't mount the card. I figured it didn't work with the N5 natively.

I eventually switched to SlimKat and it supported this adapter (and likely others like it) easily. Plug it in, the sd card would show up in any file manager.

Then I switched to Rastapop, not supported. I'm going to Catalysm as soon as the next build is stable. I have a feeling I can do or flash something to make this just work on any rom. I've tried different kernels after reading that it was a kernel thing. No help.

What gives?

Things I don't want to do, and that weren't needed on SlimKat:
• Will not instal crappy apps that allow me to view the contents, i want to use any file manager, particularly Solid Explorer
• Will not install StickMount - tried it, not a fan, I want native support
• Will not install "Nexus Media Importer" app

[RECOVERY & KERNEL ][F2FS] Support for f2fs topic

Hey guys,
i modify recovery and kernel to work with f2fs :)

- Recovery is Philz recovery with NULL kernel
- Kernel have modified fstab to mount f2fs partitions

I don't own the kernel, Kernel has been compiled by mdfzhi.
I only changed mountpoints and some bugs to get it work.

But it have modified fstab:
- cache is mounted in /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 as F2FS
- preload is mounted in /dev/block/mmcblk0p19 as EXT4
- data is mounted in /dev/block/mmcblk0p22 as F2FS

I switched it because f2fs require at least 200MB partition and cache have only about 100MB and preload about 300MB. - It will boost performance

Requirements:
- Nokia X
- installed system (like CM11, PAC etc.)

Installation:
0, THIS WILL CLEAR YOUR USERDATA AND CACHE, not SDCARD
1, download zip and unpack it
2, flash kernel and recovery with fastboot dont use flashify it will brick your phone
3, boot into recovery, it will get some errors like /data and /cache wont mount - just ignore this, it will work later
4, connect your phone to pc
5, run formater.bat or formater.sh - we must format this from pc because is ext4, after this is complete you can format data and cache from recovery (f2fs)
6, reboot and enjoy

If you found any bugs, tell me

Xperia-L init.d support topic

To resolve boot-loop problem after installing Link2SD, I used Init.d Toggler to enable support for the same for my Xperia-L as I mentioned here.

What does Init.d Toggler do?
  1. Appends the following command at the end of /system/etc/install_recovery.sh: /system/bin/sysinit

  2. Creates /system/bin/sysinit script.

  3. Creates /system/etc/init.d directory to put the start-up scripts in.

Just out of curiosity, I renamed the sysinit script, and dropped a script named testinitd inside /etc/init.d folder to test the native init.d support.

Code:

#!/system/bin/sh
LOG=/storage/sdcard0/initd.txt
echo `date` > $LOG
echo $PATH >> $LOG

To my surprise, /storage/sdcard0/initd.txt file is getting created every time I boot with appropriate contents filled in. I am on stock ROM (15.3A.1.14). Can anybody with a rooted phone please confirm my observation?
