[Q] Disable Hardware buttons topic

Hello everybody.
Is there anyway to disable camera hardware button on this mobile? Because the phone fell to the water and now the camera is launching in a loop and replacing the flex of the camera is not an easy task (I think the problem is there).

[Q] SDS? Hardware or Software Issue? topic

I am in need of help! My phone is dead. Here's the rundown

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II (i317)
Used on the Straight Talk Network
Running the latest Unofficial CM12, Lollipop 5.0 for the last two weeks and loved every bit of it. No problems.

I cracked my screen in July and never got it fixed. The cracks spread and I was planning on getting it fixed, but haven't yet. I dropped it two days ago and then the screen wouldn't come back on. The buttons lit up and it would even ring when called. So I thought my screen was finally gone and started looking for a replacement. I took the battery out because I didn't want it ringing without the ability to answer it. Yesterday I put the fully charged battery in and attempted to turn the phone back on. It will not come back on and I think it's more than just the screen now.

Red LED blinks. Half of the screen seems like it is turning on, but then it all goes dark again. Will not enter Download or Recovery. I've been reading and thinking this is more of a hardware issue than software. I've flashed dozens of Roms with only minor issues here and there. I haven't had any issue with Lollipop and can't see it being related, although I could really be wrong.

My question is, is my phone dead? Do I need a new motherboard, along with the screen I was already gonna replace? If that's the case, I will just replace the phone and start over, unless anyone has free parts they want to donate, LOL! Seriously, just looking for input and suggestions.

[Q] ROM or hardware issue? topic

Currently running AllianceROM 4.4.2 on my Note 3 - For the longest time I was on straight-talk service, and after a while I kept having issues with crappy signal strength, Slow internet speeds and general reliability issues - Well, I went back to Verizon just yesterday and it seems to be worse. I've got 2 maybe 3 bars of service at my house, where as everyone else in my house (On Verizon, but with iPhone 4s, and iPhone 5) getting 4+ bars and 4G LTE. I sometimes get my LTE, but other times it is just 3G.

Sometimes my service will drop out completely, I won't have a signal at all..It comes back after a few moments though.

So I am wondering if this is a hardware issue, or issue with something on the ROM? Maybe I need to reset my phone, or upgrade the modem?

Also - My text messages are coming in strange orders. I will send one, Get a reply... But the reply will be above what I sent to them before, saying it was received an HOUR ago. Even though I just got it. Or it will receive twice, and one reply will be an hour ago, and the other will be current. I've cleared all data settings in my messaging app, and checked / changed my automatic time / time-zone settings.

Any ideas?

N900T Network issues, firmware or hardware? topic

Hi Guys!

I recently purchased a used Galaxy note 3 Tmobile variant model N900T. The phone was sold as unlocked and the seller assured me it was fully functional and recently used on the T-mobile network.

Since I received the phone I have had severe network issues using my T-mobile simcard. The network issues are as follows.

Data network stuck on EDGE.
Voice Network disconnects usually after the first phone call, the phone call itself will not disconnect and is stable but once it is ended the modem seems to lock up or reset i'm not sure which one but it could be an hour or more before the voice network will come back. Sometimes a reboot of the phone helps but not always. When this happens I will receive a NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK ERROR or OUT OF SERVICE AREA.
NOTE: As I'm writing this it is 2am, in LA, California and I have just managed to make 5 calls in a row with no disconnection which is a first! I have noticed however that there is no data service, not even edge, could this be related in some way?

I have done the following.

Contacted T-mobile, they checked everything including IMEI, APN settings, and confirmed no blacklisting or network issues.
Checked that the IMEI number on the label and OS match.
Replaced sim
Tested the phone in different high signal LTE covered area's (Los Angeles)
Used my current sim in various phones, S3, Iphone4, S3 mini. All without voice or data issues, apart from the international S3 LTE which was stuck on EDGE also.
Re flashed various official stock T-mobile firmwares using ODIN. Such as N900TUVUDNF1, N900TUVUDNF4, N900TUVUDNF9, N900TUVUDNK3 and I also believe N900TUVUCNB4 with similar results.
Currently using N900TUVUDNF4

I have pretty much run out of idea's at this point, and decided to post here as a last resort. The seller is telling me that the phone has always worked fine for him and that he does not take refunds. Its all quite suspicious I am starting to believe that this phone has some kind of intermittent fault on the modem. I am hoping there is something that I might have overlooked on my end or some kind of test I can perform here to confirm a hardware fault.

HTC One M8 hardware buttons working weirdly topic

Hello everyone! So I've had my phone (HTC One M8) rooted and custom recovery and rom installed for a little while now. The latest rom I've installed was Android Revolution HD 22.1. I also have twrp 2.8.1.0 installed. The other day my phone got wet and started to constantly reboot itself, wouldn't shut off and stay off, would never actually start. I put it in a cup of rice for 2 days, then proceeded to plug it in to charge it. Once charged enough I tried to turn it on. It only made it the HTC One logo screen and would vibrate every 10 seconds or so. I tried rebooting several times and no matter what I did with different button combinations I could not get it to load into bootloader. Eventually with restarting different ways and "mechanically stressing" the phone (short temper lol) I managed to get it to loading into the rom itself. From there I opened hasoons all in one toolkit to reboot directly into recovery and recovered to the stock rom. So the phone will now reboot with no problem into this rom. I haven't tried reflashing the ARHD 22.1 rom again because im afraid it'll break again. However, while in the stock rom everything work fines except for the volume up button which does nothing, except for while the screen is off, if I turn my phone to landscape the camera app will open without me even pressing the volume up button. If I reboot into bootloader via the quickboot app or hasoons toolkit, my volume down button with make the cursor go up, the volume up button does nothing, and the power button does nothing. The only thing I can do in bootloader is to hold power+volume up to get the phone to reboot. I also cannot get bootloader to load by holding volume down+power. So, After all that explaining, my main question would be, do you think that the buttons are shorting in a weird way because of water damage, or do you think my software got corrupted because of all the rebooting it did? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

poor quality hardware? topic

Well im now on my 5th lg g2. Ive had every problem you can possibly have with this phone.
With that aside, im on my 3rd audio/charging flex port with thus last g2 and, again, im experiencing issues. Every g2 i have owned has had a ****y audio jack. It either thinks its been disconnected and pauses the music, or voice calling pops up CONTINOUSLY.

I have the voice calling pop up issue now, with multiple sets of ear phones. Ive cleaned the jack, cleabed the headphones, tried new roms. Nothing fixes it.
Ive also tried the "wizdroid" app and a few others to try to disable the headset controls.

Is there a guide or can someone give a small walkthrough on how to disable it? Is there some type of intent action i can disable or edit to stop this? Im about to disable the voice calling app to see if it helps.

I know im ranting, im sorry, maybe i should stop buying replacement parts for this phone and invest in the g3.

Possibility of Android networking hardware being physically disabled via ifconfig. topic

Using ifconfig Android to enable or disable a network device will effectively control it's powered state. I know this because I am an advanced Linux user. The basic function of ifconfig is the same between devices/architectures, and since all Android devices are based on Linux, i see no reason why this cannot be done.

Currently, when you shut off your wifi or mobile data, its never really off. To confirm this, I shut off my wifi, turned my phone to airplane mode to make sure I wasn't connected, but when I arrived home again later, I still received a couple of new messages from my yahoo mail and kik. My first though was "... The heck?" I knew I wasn't supposed to be able to receive anything. I even had autosync turned off also for good measure. I couldn't explain it at first... Upon checking the timestamp, it revealed to me that I received the notifications the exact moment I arrived home, but the original Sent time from the source is when I was not home. Remember, all data was turned off by me and I did not receive anything the entire time i was out. (airplane mode, and i have no active phone service)

I double-checked and surely enough, my settings were still all off according to what I could see and verify. That tells me it's not really off and it knew I was home and connected to wifi anyway briefly, even though I had it off. That tells me that even though I turned off the wifi and mobile data and set the advanced settings to never "always allow scanning even while turned off" for location services, its STILL on!! Unacceptable. Deceitful. Wrong. When I tell it to turn off I expect it to stay off, dang it...

Talk about unexpected battery drain. Imagine being comfortable in knowing you've shut off all these things, to then find out later that these settings are present just to trick you in to letting your guard down! The question is, why would Google put in place these settings if only to be overridden anyway? There is no reason except their own sneaky one.

My goal here is to recruit someone to build an app or widget for rooted users to physically disable the device via push-button widget or app, not just disassociate from any given wifi AP or mobile data service. (wifi_dassoc kernel command) Anyone with some spare time and knowledge of Android programming and use of ifconfig is welcome. I welcome more than one person also. A team even... Haha. You guys converse and figure it out. I'll be watching, and Thanks! Hope you find this to your liking and interest.

[GUIDE][5.0]How to enable on-screen nav bar and disable hardware capacitive buttons. topic

INTRODUCTION
This guide is for Ivan's 5.0 Lollipop AOSP ROM but will work with other ROMs as well.

FEATURES

Pure AOSP feel.

Many people prefer it, including me.

Workaround for 'hardware key wakeup' bug.

Looks cool:D

PREREQUISITES

Ivan's Lollipop AOSP ROM.(May work on others too)

MI3.(Again may work on others too:p)

Root.

ES File Explorer.(or any file manager with root access)

INSTRUCTIONS

Enabling on-screen nav bar.
1. Open ES File Explorer and grant su access.
2. Go to system and open build.prop with ES Note Editor and add this line in the end:

  qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
3. Save build.prop and reboot.
4. Check if soft keys are enabled.
5. If enabled successfully, proceed to next section.

Disabling hardware capacitive keys.
1. Go to system/usr/keylayout and open 'atmel-maxtouch.kl' with ES Note Editor.
2. In the end of that file there will be following three lines:

  key 139 MENU VIRTUAL key 102 HOME VIRTUAL key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
3. Add a '#' before each line so it would look like this:

4. Save the file and exit.

Disabling capacitive key lights.
1. Download Capacitive Buttons app from Play Store.
2. Open it and grant su access.
3. Select the first option i.e no brightness.
4. Reboot
