how good is google restore after factory reset? topic

I've tried the built-in google restore after a factory reset and nothing really happened. No apps were restored not even the system settings.

My question is ,is this normal and if not what would be restored as far as system/user app/data goes.

Thanks!

Nexus 9 won't factory reset topic

I click erase everything and it just sits there. After waiting a minute I hit it again and still nothing. Then it usually just freezes and I have to manually restart the tablet. Any ideas why this is happening? Any way to force factory reset another way?

official factory image?? topic

Hello,

My shield recently started bootlooping. I am trying to find a factory restore image but everywhere I look requires me to apply to be a developer.
Can someone please link where I can download the factory restore image without having to jump through a million hoops?

Something similar to what you do for a Nexus device?? This is really annoying!

[Q] Returning Nexus 7 (2012) to factory stock topic

Hi,

My uncle gave my his old (2012) Nexus 7 to mess around with. It's currently running pretty slow. He said he sideloaded 5.0 onto it which slowed it down a lot. I'm not sure if this was an official version of 5.0, however, since it looks a good bit different from my Nexus 5 running the OTA (e.g. the app drawer button looks like KitKat still, as do the app folders and app drawer itself). He may be wrong, but he was under the impression that given the way he's loaded 5.0, I won't get OTA updates on the device.

It's my understanding the 5.0.2 improves performance for the 2012 Nexus 7. I'd like to get the device back in a state in which it will receive OTA updates.

I should say that though I've been an Android user for years, I know next to nothing about flashing custom roms. Next to nothing meaning I don't even know how to root a device.

As of now, in "About tablet," it says: Android version 5.0; Kernel version 3.1.10-g5d8ecd2, android-build@kpdm5.cbf.corp.google.com #1, Wed Aug 20 19:52:21 PDT 2014; Build number LRX21P

Factory Reset Android 4.4.2 topic

I would like to share my latest phone experiences with the fellow LG G Pro owners while hoping it will help with some problems.

My LG G Pro has developed a number of problems over time:
- battery life became dreadful - barely lasting a few hours of lite usage
- phone would start heating up for no apparent reason
- phone would heat up during Qi wireless charging
and the last straw
- After making or receiving a phone call, I would loose the Mobile Network and won't be able to make another
call for awhile

I searched Google and couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation.
As last resort, I booted the phone into a factory recovery and reset the phone.

To my great surprise ALL of the above problems were fixed!!!

I love the G Pro and now it works like new again and I couldn't be more pleased.

[Q] Shield 32gb only showing 11gb after factory image topic

I did a factory image reset of my Shield Tablet 32gb. Now I only have 11gb reported.
From reading the Nexus 32gb issues. It is with the userdata.img that all the factory images are for the 16gb model. I tried to delete userdata.img with fastboot -w and reload it userdata.img but I still only get 11GB of space instead of like 26gb or so.

Any thoughts on what I can do or where a 32gb userdata.img file is that I can try. Unless there is a factory image for 32gb on Nvidia's site that I have overlooked.

Things I have tried;
using erase command to remove all partitions and reload from factory image update v1.2.1
using the flash-all.bat file

[Q] factory reset. boot loop topic

Okay so i just got my nexus 6, after a month of waiting. I was at work and had my friend pick it up and bring it to me. I went to lunch and opened at work started the setup and played around with it a bit. But having skipped so much initially due to not being home i felt i should start over and did a factory reset. It had the android on the screen and said erasing. After a while of having that screen i got a little concerned and tried turning it off. It imediately restarted and it was booting up for a while. My lunch ended so i left it charging while it booted up. 6 hours later i get off work and it was still booting up i tried turning it off and getting to the recover screen but everytime i try turning it off it just reboots imediately. I have no idea what to do, i tried opening it up and just ended up scratching the bottom, which kills me. Please help.

Google publishes Android 5.0.2 factory image topic

Google has just posted the factory image of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the WiFi version of the 2012 Nexus 7. This follows the rollout of the Android 5.0.1 on many Nexus devices recently. With the factory image up, an OTA update can't be too far away, and we'll keep you posted on AndroidCentral if we see Android 5.0.2 on other Nexus smartphones and tablets.

[Q] "App not installed" after factory reset. topic

Hello.
Yesterday i did a factory reset on my phone. After which i am unable to install a "few apps".I have tried installing app from the .apk file i had as backup and also from Play store but no success.
When trying to install from .apk file the app begins to install but after like 3 or 4 seconds it says.
"App not installed"
nothing else.
i tried to install the same app from Play store, again no success. App downloads 100% but when installing it says something like "unknown error: error code"-24" " and then nothing.
This happens for a few Apps only. They are all server softwares that contain Apach,PHP,MySQL.The first of these i installed was KSweb server. Then last time i did a factory reset i faced this problem for KSweb server. I tried quite a lot of things but no success.
So i downloaded another app (DroidPHP) with same functionality it was downloded and installed fine and also worked great. But yesterday i did a factory reset again after 4 months maybe. And now i am unable to install DroidPHP aswell. Also KSweb is not installing and showing same error.
i have an unrooted phone running Jelly Beans 4.2

[Q] What factory apps are better disabled for improved battery life? topic

Hey guys. I disabled some of the apps that my N5 came with such as the typical 'Play' apps. I also disabled Gmail, E-mail, Google Earth and Google+. I'm currently on KitKat 4.4.4. I am not really sure about disabling news & weather app and turning off report locations on Google Now. What do you guys think? Is it worth disabling all these wonderful apps? Should I enable any of these apps I mentioned? My menu looks pretty empty now and I think it no longer has the same flavour as before. Less apps makes it less complex.
Also, What about Google Chrome? I think it definitely drains my battery pretty bad. Do you guys know any settings for Chrome to make it less drainable or some app substitute for it?
Thank you.

[Q] Play store not working even after factory reset. topic

Hey all,

This is on my SGP511. To get root access recently, I downgraded to an earlier version of android. Then I used EasyRoot to get root access, backed up TA, then installed XZDualrecovery, supersu, busybox, Nandroid backup, and installed the newest firmware with root.

During downgrade of android, I noticed that Play store didnt work and so I thought it would fix on it's own after I installed the latest firmware. I have also noticed Gmail does not work as well, but I do have internet connection. I tried different fixes, culminating in a factory reset.

Even after factory reset, I dont have connection to Gmail and Play Store. I dont know what to do now to get it working.

[Q] After factory reset from the settingsNote 4 keeps saying installing system update topic

Hello there guys.
I have a problem with my Note 4 the SM-910F model.

I had some battery problems so I decided to go to my settings and factory reset my phone from the menu, Not through recovery mode or anything. Just through the samsung galaxy note 4 settings. I have rooted the phone with CF-Auto-Root.

So now the phone is trying to turn on and it keeps saying Installing system update... with the android robot guy logo. It keeps coming on and off, on and off. The logo and text comes up for less than a second, and then it goes off for 3 seconds.. and comes back.

I don't know what to do. I am currently downloading the correct firmware for the phone, it's like 1.5 gigs.. and I've got Odin as well.. however my phone is not recognized. As in nothing is detected. So I don't know what I should do.

I even tried going to recovery mode by pressing VolUp+Power+Home button. Nothing.

Please help me.
Thank you!!

I am terribly sorry. I am an Idiot.
It was VolDown+Power+Home button. Now I am on the downloading screen...

Once again. I am sorry. I now fixed it somehow. I just had to read and look at the stupid guides.. which said VolDown.. not Up.
Please remove this thread.. or keep it so people can use this as an example..of how to be an idiot.

[Q] chinese tablet (digiin x10/iRulu) "factory reset" loop topic

After rooting the tablet this afternoon using "Genius Root" I somehow managed to get it stuck in a hard (factory reset) loop. It's a digiin/iRulu X10 on android 4.2.2. Got the tab rooted and was loading some apps and playing around. Loaded SuperSU to replace the KingUser app loaded with the root - it was after that (don't remember what else I'd done) that it reset and, on rebooting, was in the reset loop.
Did manage to (once) get to a screen showing some options but don't know how I got there and can't get back to it. I tried an option that was something like 'use .apk file to reboot' and that didn't help.
Any ideas on how I can break it out of the loop or get back to that options screen?
I have also tried the 'power/volume' reset with no luck...
Thanks much in advance for your help, Vern

[Q] Galaxy S5 - Factory / Hard Reset per PC topic

Hello there

Is it possible to reset my S5 (SM-G900F) with my PC. Because my S5 won't start anymore. Not in Recovery, Download or Normal Mode. The only thing it shows is the: "Samsung Galaxy S5 Powered by Android" and in the top left corner "RECOVERYS BOOTING.....", but nothing happens.

PS: I had Cyanogenmod 11 on it, then I installed the Samsung Stock Rom (from SamMobile: sammobile.com/firmwares/download/33120/G900FXXU1ANG2_G900FAUT1ANG2_AUT.zip) with Odin (Odin 3.09 with the PDA/AP button) and then the Problem.

factory reset and /sdcard topic

Sorry if this is a noob question... But the N6 is the first phone that I've had with internal SD storage. What kind of wipes will erase the /SDCARD directory? The reason I ask is if I'm doing Titanium backups to /SDCARD, does that mean I occasionally need to move those files off before I do any kind of reset / flash?
