GPS EPO file download scheduler and One-Click tweaking tool for Mediatek devices topic
This application is only for Mediatek CPU based devices that use EPO files for AGPS functionality.
Currently support for MT6589/MT6592 is tested but it should work for any other Mediatek devices which use EPO files.
Use this application at your own risk! I recommend making full backups before using.
This application enables you to automatically download the EPO files on a daily, weekly or monthly basis if you would like to do so without any interaction required.
It has a One-Click feature(OK it's 2 clicks :D ) that enables you to quickly get some of the optimal settings for your device in your region.
A backup of your original gps.conf file is made.
Requires:
*Mediatek device using EPO files
*Minimum Android version Ice Cream Sandwich
*Root access (Ideally with SuperSU, may work with others)
*Internet access
What are EPO files?
AGPS enabled GPS module can start-up faster, perform faster TTFF (time to first fix), and obtain faster positioning information under weak signal environments.
On average, using AGPS cuts the GPS module "cold-start" time by half, and "warm-start" down to one second.
When GPS receiver is powered on for the first time, almanac and ephemeris data from the satellites must be transmitted continuously for 40 seconds without interruption to the GPS receiver for normal operation.
By uploading pre-calculated almanac and ephemeris data in proprietary "EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit)" data format to the GPS module, the waiting time for the initial data transmission from the satellites is now significantly shortened. The EPO data contains predicted ephemeris data for 7/14/30 days and need to be re-downloaded once it expires.
What are NTP servers?
NTP servers provide your mobile with a very accurate time reference that help ensure a fast GPS lock.
As standard most Mediatek phones use a Chinese server for this and so a connection from anywhere else in the world is likely to be very slow. With this app you can set the NTP servers to ones that are closer to your own location.
How this app works:
*The application can download the files on-demand or on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule.
*Download is done from a more stable location for the EPO files than the FTP location that Mediatek previously used.
*The files are downloaded to a temporary location in the application folder and then moved to /data/misc
*To automate downloads, select your required frequency, switch the toggle to "ON" and save.
*An unobtrusive flash message will display briefly "EPO Updated" when the files have been updated at the scheduled time.
What One-Click does:

Any way to copy file when not rooted? topic
Hello all
Forgive me for any ignorance for any part of this, kinda still learning the Android stuff.
Basically I got a Tab Pro 8.4 for Xmas, an like a lot of it, but really don't care for the huge Weather widget, or how it's designed. But I do want to stay with a Accuweather version.
My first learning of Android came from a Stratosphere II phone I have, an I kinda like that weather widget. Plus I think it would be a little smaller.
To mention, I rooted that device as it was pretty easy, (an way out of warranty), but I have yet to root the 8.4 as seems to be more complicated and I kinda almost don't want to unless I really have too as I really don't want to trip the Knox.
Anyway, so my goal here was to try the Strat's weather widget in the 8.4, so I went into the system folder of the Strat, got all the files that had to do with anything of the weather widget, copied them to my PC, put them in the doc's folder of the 8.4, and then tried to copy them to same system folder, which I was able to view with Root Explorer, but when I went to paste them in, it told me I couldn't as the device was not rooted.
So is there any way I can get these files into there?

[Help] ES File Explorer cannot find GDrive Acct topic
Whenever I try and access any of several different GDrive Accounts on my N9, ES returns an error message "net://XXXXX@gdrive/ is not found.
ES access to my GDrive is currently working on my Nexus 6, Nexus 7, GNII, etc. It's just the Nexus 9 LTE (5.0.1 no encryption)
I've uninstalled/reinstalled fresh, reboot, revoked/restored ES app account permission, tried to restore from other devices' settings backups.
ES just does not work on my N9.
Thoughts, suggestions, TIA

you would need to dig into the apk code to get the necessary private key and the certificate to get the token to work successfully.

which for now will give you a ssl handshake error,
the only way out is to reverse eng the iphone app and get certificate and private key which in encrypted in it out of it.

PIT file missing topic
When I use Odin to flash my Samsung S4 i9505, the flashing failed with error message 'PIT file is missing'. I'm using Odin 3.07 for the flashing. I've been using to flash many times without such a message.

Hangouts Dialer As Default Bug - How to properly file a bug report upstream? topic
Hey guys, I need some instruction on how to file an official bug report upstream for the android team and what information captures I should include and how to retrieve those? I am including a description of the bug/problem here on the off chance that anyone knows of an existing fix or workaround.
PS. Stock unrooted locked encrypted google play store variant nexus 6 64GB midnight blue with the latest OTA updates and all apps up to date, no "user modifications" made....yet
I have set up hangouts & hangouts dialer as my default MMS/SMS client, and I have ticked use hangouts dialer for incoming calls in hangouts. My google voice number is the same as my sprint mobile number thanks to sprint google voice integration, I have disabled all forwarding phones in google voice options. When I get a call to my sprint number incoming hangouts dialer shows up alone and works perfect and unanswered calls go to google voice voicemail.
When I open chrome and click on a phone link I get the choose default popup that has the options to select "phone dialer or hangouts dialer" I select hangouts dialer and tap on "always", then I close chrome reopen it to a new phone link and tap the phone link and it again opens the choose default dialog even though I just set hangouts dialer as my permanent default a second ago, it continues to do this EACH time no matter how many times I set hangouts dialer as my default dialer. I have tried disabling google dialer in settings(defaults option for google dialer are greyed out), turning off mobile data & everything but WiFi (don't see how that should change anything, and it doesn't change anything).
So to sum it up I can not set hangouts dialer as my default dialer on a google play bought nexus 6 running stock everything latest updates all apps up to date. The default dialer selection " always" just does not seem to get set when always is selected. Me setting hangouts dialer to always is not remembered.
To make matters worse when I select hangouts dialer and tap "always" it opens hangouts one time and it DOES put the number into the dialer but it does NOT hit call or initiate the call, like the default dialer does with phone links.
Further, after attempting to set hangouts dialer as default "always" 20 times, when I do "OK google call xxxxxxxxxx" voice command it shows the blue google dialer logo there's nothing to tap on to change what dialer OK google opens and it opens it with the default google phone dialer, is there some trick to make a call using hangouts with OK google? Is the trigger word not "call"? I've tried ", hang out with" which seems unrecognized and a few others. This really effects me as have two android wear devices and I use hangouts as my primary SMS/MMS/phone dialer and when I make a call through a wear device it doesn't use hangouts and it doesn't show in my hang outs call history.

[Q] LG G3 camera/video produces "unsupported file types" topic
Hi, all.
I bought my T-Mobile LG G3 from someone who used it for about 2 weeks, and I've been using it for about a week now. I've noticed that some of my pictures and videos are not properly being executed. For example, some of my videos in my gallery show as gray icons with exclamation points that, when clicked on, say "Cannot play video - Unsupported file type." The images that are grayed-out say nothing when clicked on. Also, one of the videos that managed to work had some crazy glitching going on in the middle of it; it started off fine, but then neon colors started appearing all across the screen while muting out the audio. Nonetheless, some of my videos and images are perfectly fine. I have my default settings set to save my media to my microSD card, if that has to do with this issue.

Unrestricted hotspot tether file? topic
I've been looking but can't find it. I'm looking got the file to flash in recovery for the hotspot hack.
Also somewhat related. My plan just renewed today, and I got a message tonight saying I'm already at 2gb out of 2.5gb of mobile hotspot on my T-Mobile plan. They did this to me last month too! I barely even used it today, only for streaming some YouTube.

[Q] wiped everything WITHOUT a ROM file topic
I want to flash SlimROM, but I think I messed up.
I installed CWM, and wiped everything I needed to (factory, data, cache, system) WITHOUT putting the SlimROM zips in ahead.
Right now I can get into fastboot and CWM.
I tried installing with adb sideload, but the device turn to unknown device (Android > Nexus 5) when I access the adb sideload function.
Is there a driver somewhere that I missed?

I installed CWM, and wiped everything I needed to (factory, data, cache, system) WITHOUT putting the SlimROM zips in ahead.
Right now I can get into fastboot and CWM.
