how good is google restore after factory reset? topic

I've tried the built-in google restore after a factory reset and nothing really happened. No apps were restored not even the system settings.

My question is ,is this normal and if not what would be restored as far as system/user app/data goes.

Thanks!

[Q] How can I restore so that I can install from ota? topic

I rooted when i got the nexus 10 but would much rather not have a rooted device if it means i can install ota instead of jumping through hoops every time i need to update. I tried unrooting the device but the ota install still won't work. It seems it is because i have twrp or some other kind of custom recovery that was put on during rooting that is getting in the way.

I am running 4.4.2 and I have had an ota update for 4.4.3 in my notifications for several months. Every time I try to find a way to install the ota I spend hours looking on the internet and can never find an answer, only instructions on how to manually update, etc. But i really just want to be able to install from the ota! Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Q] Restore Android after wiping no backup on sd avail. topic

Happy holidays,
I am having trouble to get my htc one m7 back to normal.

I did erase my android and internal sd card( not backup on sd card avail).
What does it mean - after rebooting my phone is stuck in HTC logo screen not booting.
It was unlocked/rooted in the first place - my plan to do a factory reset

Another issue is that my PC (win 7) does not recognize my HTC ( as storage unit ), I tried driver updates, diff cables and another PC same issue ( Android 1.0) so I am unable to copy/access the htc's sd card

What i can access/see/work with:
bootloader menu
TWRP

Once i reboot from TWRP menu, it says "no OS installed"
I could feed more details if needed.

I am desperately looking for advice. If anyone could share some thoughts, I'd be very thankful

( not a native english speaker excuse my language,)

Cherrs

[Q] Deleted restore files topic

I was in TWRP on my phone, and accidently somehow deleted my backed up files that I use to restore my phone. I actually wiped everything off my phone somehow, including pictures, contacts, etc. I was wondering if there is anyway to recover these files? I had three different files backed up that I could use under Restore and they are all gone now?

[Q] Stolen Optimus 4x HD - Need help with LG PC suite to restore my contacts topic

Maybe somebody can help me!

My Optimus 4X HD was stolen this week. After a few thoughts, I've realized that I don't want to hunt for another phone on such a short notice, so I've bought a similar one, and will decide later, if I want to have a better one. :p
Of course I thought, that by having the same type phone, my LG PC Suite will be able to restore at least my contacts, as I was making backups regularly on it. But that's not the case, and the PC Suite can't find any previous backups, after I plug in my newest Optimus. Anyone could advise if it's possible to somehow restore my backup of my previous Optimus on the new one in any way from the LG PC Suite?

[Q] Boot loop problem after restore to stock 2.3.5 backup from custom ROM 4.3.1 topic

Hi,

First time posting Reasonably Nooby...-ish to hacking around with android but pretty techy in general and have done a lot of reading to try and fix this myself before posting.

Setup: HTC Desire S, ClockworkMod ver 5.8.1.5, HBOOT 2.00.0002 S-ON Unlocked bootloader

I have been running the stock firmware Gingerbread 2.3.5 from new (rooted by me) running CWM Recovery ver 5.8.1.5. I took out my SD card and put a blank one in (possibly stupidly, didn't re-format first), I took a nandroid backup of the phone. Rebooted then changed a few phone settings/apps and restored the backup to test it was okay, and it worked fine.

I then flashed a custom rom (Carbon_4.3.1_1114_saga.zip) and (gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip) from the same sd card, cleared all cache, dalvik, data etc which boots and works fine except that I have major issues with the sound in that it doesnt ring, no notification sounds and terrible in call audio, so have restored my backup through CWM.

As soon as I restored my backup the phone goes into a boot loop. I tried clearing all data, cache, dalvik cache but it made no difference. I have tried a number of things including;

I then tried flashing boot.img to the phone from my nandroid backup in fastboot but again that made no difference.

I read through and followed the boot loop post on here but that made no differnce either.

I tried copying all data off sd card, formatting (through windows) and copying data back, no difference (more of a desperation attempt).

I can flash the custom ROM back to the phone and it boots again into that rom fine

One thing to note which may or may not have anything to do with this at all, is that when I originally wiped the dalvik cache before installing the custom ROM: from my memory, it did so with no errors. Now as soon as I select wipe Dalvik cache in CWM before even confirming to wipe, I get an error: "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]", however when I do a "wipe data/factory reset" in CWM it shows it wipes /sd-ext. (this part is something I have not much knowledge on).

I cant help thinking theres something I've missed or can do that will get this to suddenly boot. Any help would be really appreciated as I've put a lot of hours/late nights into this so far and would now really like a fully working phone back.

As a side note; I believe from reading, putting a stock RUU update back on will solve the problem but after devoting a lot of hours trying to find one for my phone, I've not had much luck as nothing on HTCdev any more and cant find one for UK on Orange (now EE). And a lot of old links are now dead. As a side question does it have to be the firmware that my carrier sent out exactly for my country, I've read you can extract the rom.zip file from the RUU.exe so could I flash one that is world wide or a uk from another network provider or my network provider from another country, and then restore my backup to my own one, would that actually work/make any difference or just fail?

Thanks for any help

[Q] Restore Xperia Z2 Tablet to Factory topic

I rooted and installed Cyanygenmod 11 on my Xperia Z2 tablet (SGP512) after making a backup of my ROM.
I now want to restore the factory rom, but when I do that the tablet reboots infinitely.
I tried using the Sony Emma tool but it doesn't seem to recognize my device.
I am back to CM11.
Any thoughts on how I can get back to factory state?

[Q] Need P600 Software to Restore to Stock topic

Not sure what happened to my SM-P600, but after using TWR 2.7 to do a factory reset, prior to installing a new ROM, some of my partitions failed. I am able to use ODIN to flash a recovery and have used both CWM and TWR to try and get my partitions back, which I believe I have done, and am now looking for an image I can flash using ODIN. Scot had a thread on returning the P600 back to stock, but that image wouldn't write. Perhaps because it was an older image?

I am unable to mount USB to transfer files or I would use one of the custom ROM's.

A link to the latest firmware in an odin flashable format would be super. Or, if you know how I can get something copied over to this brick, I would appreciate that too.
