Content heavy apps won't work on wifi :/ topic

I have been having issues with my wifi connection for over a week, instagram takes a good while to load the pictures, facebook won't load at all, pictures on twitter take a while to load , but chrome works fine and I do have internet, at first I thought it was my Nexus 5, but my housemate is having issues too , so I think it was an android issue since my laptop works just fine but then I noticed that I'm not able to connect to my VPN at all, what could be going on? Do you guys have any idea? :confused: To make things worse the internet company only offers tech support for ethernet but not for wifi :rolleyes:
