[Q] Turn my FTV into just a XMBC / Netflix Player - topic

i am rooted and have the latest software up and running. i have kodi installed and all set up.

i would like to get rid of as much amazon crapware as possible. i don't want to offend any amazon lovers, its just the only reason i bought this device is to run xmbc (kodi) better than i was on my apple tv. so far i like it a lot better.

i would love to have it boot into a screen with two icons, netflix and xmbc. is this what you would call a Launcher? is the best one for what I'm after here? do you recommend anything else? maybe with some screen shots?

Netflix Sidebars topic

So annoying. I "upgraded" my Chromecast to a Nexus Player and now on Netflix the sidebars when watching some old content (like the 1960's Star Trek) are some stupid gradient of black/gray rather than just black.
Side bars should either be black or have the option to choose them. If there is no option, then it should be black.

I tried looking around in the Nexus Player settings for compatible HDMI modes to see if maybe I could do something there but I'm pretty sure this is an app issue.

Random shutdowns; related to Netflix issues on other devices? topic

Hi everyone. My phone a couple months ago would shut down while I was sleeping, and it would be a hard shut down, as the phone would not power back up when my alarm would go off. I would have to pull the battery just to get it to power back on. I tried wiping the phone and same problem. So I had T-Mobile just replace it.

Then last night, I plugged the charger in and went to watch some Netflix and it shut down again. I thought it was the charger, so I left it off the charger and fell asleep to something on Netflix. I got to work this morning and searched around and found some other devices starting with Android 4.3 were having this same problem with Netflix. Searching this subforum, I found only one other thread that seemed related, but they mentioned it shut down on them without Netflix as well... Has anyone else had this issue?
