Question: Is there a way to modify Android WiFi settings, even if rooting is required, such that the radio ignores all channels but one, say 165 in the 5ghz WiFi spectrum?
I know there is a way to limit the channels for a radio because this must be done for each country. I was just wondering if there is a way to augment the country specific settings by eliminating even more channels. The reason I would like to do this is to take an Android TV stick with Miracast Sink capability and limit the channels to one that is unused in my environment without relying on some sort of network negotiation. We have a wireless network that is quite dense and it seems to bog-down Miracast solutions. One like the Netgear PTV 3000 works fine at home but is really flakey at work. Also, the wireless network guys and security gurus don't like the idea of a wireless device that can't be tuned. This is just an attempt to remove one hurdle. Another hurdle would be to reduce the power setting of each radio but the channel selection is the most important.
Error Your wifi network does not seem to be working. Please make sure your wi-fi connection is turned on, that you are connected to it and, if necessary , signed in , then try again.
Does anyone know how can I stop this? I have my wifi turned off on purpose- I don't need to be reminded of it every 2 minutes!
I am trying to connect to a WiFi network at work. I saw the network that I wanted to connect on the list but when I tried to connect to it, I was asked to select an EAP method and I only saw "AKA" and "SIM" on the list. I asked an IT person and he said that they supported "PEAP" and "CHAP". Does it mean that I cannot connect my Gear S to this network? Is there something that I can do to connect to this WiFi network?
I have the SGS3 with 4.3 I'm trying to install any ROM or a stock ROM, on the SGS3 - SCH-I-535 I don't expect this phone to do wonders. I need 2 functions. 1. Calls 2. WiFi
But both of them are not working. This Phone is rooted and have safestrap 3.71 installed.
I have not seen a particular thread with this particular issue: I am running Lollipop 5.0.1 on a Google Play Edition device (was properly converted to GPE). Whenever the phone is idle (usually after a night of charging, I am getting the "!" near the Wi-Fi, meaning that the Wi-Fi connection is problematic. This is not true, and it fixes itself by toggling Wi-Fi Off/On. It is annoying since no notifications are coming through. In this particular screenshot, even the data has the "!". See the attachment for more details.
This happens often, but not in a way I can reproduce everytime. I've tried flashing the official GPE and the SkyDragon custom ROM, cleanly flashing them each time. It suggests that the problem lies in Lollipop itself, and not in something I did wrong. I've also tried reflashing the GPE radio.
Anyone having this problem and any idea of a fix? Thanks.
Im leaning towards the 8.4 version, since i think the 10.5 and 8.4 all have the same processors. Im trying to decide between lte and wifi only based on two factors : performance and lte usability. i did some research but i cant seem to find a consensus on which processor is better, the wifi only exynos or the lte qualcomm. I have at&t and i get free hotspot on my phone. I also have a big discount so an lte tablet would only be 5 dollars a month on my plan, but of course the lte tablet costs more. Will there be an internet speed performance difference in using a tablet with built in lte vs just using wifi off of my samsung note edge? I know lte gets up to 50mbps, so what quality connection do i get on wifi when using an lte smartphone as my source? Would both connections give me identical lte performance? Im just trying to figure out if there is a point at all in paying those 5 dollars a month. thanks all for your help.
Hey I've a little problem and I'm almost thinking my device might be damaged. I bought a tablet (blaupunkt polaris 803-android 4.4.2) and as mentioned above i can get access to my router but it won't let me download/upload anything.
When trying to connect to an open hot spot (my phone) I'll have the same problem.
I downloaded the app network signal info and it says following:
Ip : 192.168.0.1 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.1 Dhcp-server: 192.168.0.1 DNS1: 192.168.0.1 DNS2: 0.0.0.0 DHCP lease 168.00.00 (hh:mm:ss) External ip: can not get external ip
I guess the last line might be the problem but I got no idea what to do...
All other devices (2 notebooks and 3 android phones can connect without problem to the router)
I noticed last night at some point that I lost Wi-Fi functionality on my S4. All other devices on my home network are working without incidence. Any ideas?

I have flashed a multitude of ROMs on my tab S 10.5 since getting it last summer. Somewhere along the line my tab S lost its US identity. About 4-5 ROMs back after installing a new ROM I no longer could see wireless N 5 ghz SSIDs.
On KitKat the fix was easy, wifi/advanced and pick the correct region. On Lollipop that option is no longer present under wifi/advanced (at least under CM12 it isnt).
For Lollipop I am using a multi step process to fix the country code.
It works, but given how often I flash ROMs it is kind of a PITA.
At one point I installed stock Samsung European firmware without realizing it was European until it was too late. Recently I installed stock Samsung US firmware. That did not fix it.
I do a clean flash every time I install ROMs. I am currently running CM 12 (cm-12-20141226-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi.zip) Bootloader is T800XXU1ANK1.
Any tips on how to fix this permanently so I dont have to apply the fix every time I flash a ROM would be greatly appreciated.
I installed bcmon only to get the following screen.
fireware model: not detected installed tools version: 0 installed fx version: 0
I am currently running the X-Note ROM v3.0, which has the latest AEL kernel v5.2. Using a SM-N910T.
Does the galaxy note 4 simply not contain the required Broadcom chipset or is there another method to get to monitor mode, assuming it is, at all, possible?
Hey I'm trying to find a way to work around my hotspot tethering limit. I have unlimited data and want to use the most out of it, I have had unlimited data for about 3 weeks now and I have used 200 gigs of data and I want o be able to co next my Xbox and laptop for more than just a day or 2 because I only get 5 gigs of hotspot. So if anyone has a workaround for the tmobile s5 please comment and let me know
I am using a rooted Cricket Samsung S5. The WIFI and USB tethering are completely missing in the stock rom. I dont want to flash a new ROM mainly because none of the roms claim to be compatibe with Cricket anyway.
I was wondering, is there any way to bring back the missing WIFI / US Tethering Option? Any advise if greatly appreciated!
I am sure the tethering piece of software is still in the Rom and the shortcuts have been removed, so I installed Master Shortcut from Google Play but I dont know what to do next or even if I am on the right track.
This is my work around for t-mobile calling for non-t-mobile branded phones or t-mobile phones with customized ROMs/ iphone 5 and earlier iphone versions. Things you need: 1. Andriod phones with customized ROMs/ non-T-Mobile branded Android phones / iphone 5 and earlier iphone versions. 2. T-Mobile service/ working T-mobile SIM card of the phone above. 3. Gmail account with activated Google Voice number. 4. Google Hangouts App 5. Google Hangouts Dialer App (only for Android, IOS has the dialer already merged to the Hangout app by default) 6. Off course WIFI connection. 7. a compurer Okay let's start. 1. Download the Google Hangout and Google Hangout dialer on your android/ only google Hangout App to IOS. 2. Log in your google Voice/Gmail account in the Hangout App. 3. Go to Hangout setting, press on your email add, go to google voice (within the setting) and and enable/check "Incoming phone calls". 4. Now you have to activate CF NRC (Call Forwarding if Not Reachable) for your T-Mobile number. This will forward your incoming calls when you are not reachable only. We will be forwarding your incoming call to your Google Voice number. (Callforwarding will consume your minutes if you do not have unlimited voice minutes). From your phone, go to the native phone dialer (not the Hangout Dialer) and dial **62*YOURGOOGLEVOICENUMBER# then send. -- note- to deactivate CF NRC if you change your mind go to native dialer and dial ##62# then send 5. Now go to a computer and log in to your Google Voice account, go to setting and uncheck "calls forward to" your T-mobile phone number. If you do not do this, your incoming call will go into an unending loop of voicemail forwarding and your incoming voice call will not ring to your Hangout/Google voice number. 6. Now you can receive you incoming voice call via hangout. Unfortunately, you will use your free outgoing voice calls via hangout only if you do not have a T-Mobile signal. Tip: When I do not have a good T-Mobile signal and have a WIFI connection, I put my phone to Airplane Mode and turn on WIFI connection after so that you battery will not die quick. You can still receive your phone call and make VOIP outgoing calls via your WIFI connection. The moment you have T-Mobile signal, you should receive your incoming call normally since you will be "reachable" so you do not have disable the CF NRC. Unfortunately this does not work on your text messages so I use my google voice Hangout text message which is also unlimited. Enjoy.
For serveral reasons I disabeld the ssid (Name of the Network) for my home wifi, to First Connect the 1+1 it works, but if I disable the SSID again it doesn't Connect, my Note 3,Nexus 5/7 and my pc Connect correctly, only the 1+1 makes some trouble, currently on 44s Rooted, maybe a known issue?
Hi all, as noted in subject, occasionally I am connected to WiFi but I get no active connection (nothing comes in or goes out). The only way I remedy this is disabling/enabling WiFi and as this is a small annoyance, any reason this happens? I have an RT-66U router as well, if it matters.
Using a Rogers Samsung Galaxy Note 4, stock ROM, no modifications done to the device.
I have been posting this in many oneplus one kernel/rom threads but no one was able to track it down. So I'm posting it here.
So I'm having WiFi issue and I can't figure out how to fix it. After about half hour my WiFi disconnects (even during apps update in playstore but the screen is off), It keeps disconnecting after ~20mins and it drains my mobile data (i always have turned it on along with wifi, so when I leave home I will still get connection). I've been using Temasek build with AK 50, 60, 61, 65 and stock and now I tried Blisspop, both stock and ak068. This does not affect kitkat roms (stock 44S). I thought it was an app but I rebooted to emergency mode which has no custom apps at all and this problem was still there. It isn't my local network either because I haven't changed anything on my router since a year now also it doesn't occur on other devices or kitkat rom on opo.
