Running 5.0.1 stock but rooted, and TWRP 2.8.1.0. Noticed that I had no longer had access to my TWRP backups outside of recovery, so I flashed the "fix permissions" file found attached to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...04&postcount=2 which I had believed merely automated the "su / restorecon -FR /data/media/0 / reboot" commands.
After I rebooted my internal storage was blank, although all of my apps and settings are still there and everything works. I can't take new photographs or save new settings though. Trying to create a test blank folder in internal storage fails. Clearly I've gone ahead and broken something.
I have a full nandroid backup from a couple of days ago, right before I updated from 5.0 to 5.0.1, but I suspect there's a simpler solution to get all of my stuff back than that. Would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I'm far from an expert though, so straightforward steps on how to fix this would be very much appreciated. The only thing I could find from googling were the commands above, which surely the file I flashed has already tried to do (and it didn't work).
I'd add that in recovery I can see all of my files and folders just fine.
