Hello,
I have been working with Motorola devices and fastboot for several years, but I have never seen a situation like this.
I recently sold a RAZR HD to a customer that was stock but rooted and bootloader unlocked. Without consulting me, he proceeded to install some bad software that is now causing endless freezing and force closing when the phone is powered on. I told him I would take the phone back to flash new firmware to the device.
First, I started by erasing userdata and cache with mfastboot. Both commands succeeded. Then, I rebooted the device.. and all of his apps and software were still installed! Confused, I booted to the stock recovery and wiped data and cache there. After rebooting, all of the apps were still installed! This is where I decided to nuke it with the latest firmware in RSD lite. The phone rebooted again with all of the software installed. I then tried flashing CWM recovery to the recovery partition, but when I tried booting to recovery, it was still the stock recovery.
To make a long story short, this phone acts like it is accepting and processing my mfastboot commands, but the phone seems infected with these apps and data and I cannot erase them. Not even a full SBF in RSD lite was able to clear the bad apps.
Are there any special commands with fastboot that I can try to get this device cleared out? Has anyone ever seen something like this before?
Thanks in advance.
