Samsung GS3 16GB fully dead. Please Help topic

I have looked everywhere for an answer and did come across several but don't know how to proceed. I have got a Samsung GS3 16GB SGH-T999V from Wind (Canada). After using it for 3 months the phone died on me. Sent it to Samsung but they said that my warranty was void because I tampered with it. The truth is I tried to install an apk app file and that is it; no rooting or anything like that.

The phone is completely dead. If I plug into my pc, a red light appears and then after several seconds it goes away and that is pretty much it. I bought a jig for and had no luck with it. I am not sure whether the battery is dead or not. It shouldn't be because the phone only lasted me 3 months. I haven't used the phone since 2012. Now I would like to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

p.s Would plugging that jig into my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 ruin my tablet? I just wanna know whether the jig is working.
