[Q] HTC One M8 vs the Toilet.... topic

11:35

Somehow, my wife managed to drop her phone in the toilet yesterday. For whatever reason, she was pulling her phone out of her pocket while facing the toilet and it slipped out of her hand and into the abyss...

She said it wasn't in there long, but it only takes nanoseconds for a submerged phone to die.... I didn't know about this until much later in the evening. She was using her phone next to me and I noticed it had the headset icon in the notification bar and asked her if that was some new app or something. That's when she told me what happened. She said she dried it off as good as she could and didnt notice any issues with the phone..

I took the phone out of the case to find it had been sitting in a shallow pool of water all day. We turned it off and left it in a sealed ziplock bag of rice with the air sucked out, and noticed the phone making a hissing sound as it was being put into the bag. Took it out this morning, and now the phone will not turn on at all, nor will it respond to adb when connected to a PC. The LED does light up when plugged into a USB cable.

I guess all i need to know is ... Is this a lost cause at this point? I'm getting a gently used Motorola Razr 4G from someone on Craiglist so she'll have something to use, but if this one is fixable, I'd be curious to get it working.
The hissing sound came from the lower portion of the phone, so I'm wondering if the water moving when we pulled the phone from the case got in there and fried the battery and whatever else.

Any helpful info appreciated. Or even if it's a lost cause... Just want to be sure before tossing or putting a bullet through this thing.

Thanks
